She is now the director of Pingtung County Makapahay Cultural Association and the owner of the Wenqi Workshop. She has played an important role in the rebuilding of Amis culture. Lin can teach the singing of traditional Amis tribal songs and weave Amis headgear. She is particularly adept at Amis tribal dances. The ancient rituals now live not only in memory; they are practiced during annual festivals once more.

The influence of her mother and exposure from an early age meant that Lin has always felt a sense of mission when it comes to Amis clothing. By chance, Lin was invited by the Indigenous Peoples Culture park to produce clothing for a gallery display. With the support of technical specialist Guo Lilan (郭麗蘭) at the Pingtung County Government, she ended up setting up the Wenqi Workshop. Due to her love of dancing, she created her own clothing designs based on her own observations and continued research into clothing suitable for dancing.

The Wenqi Workshop was established in 1998. Past work included clothing for display in the Indigenous Peoples Culture Park and the clothing of different indigenous groups as well.

Workshop Merchandise: Amis chieftain headgear, Amis headgear, Amis lovers' bag, Amis shawl, Amis tunic, Amis belt, Amis anklets, Amis pants, Amis belly wraps and Amis skirts.

Shokay

In 2006, 24 year-old Carol Chyau (喬琬珊) decided upon graduating from Harvard to become involved in social enterprises and search for a business model that can give back to society. She traveled across the Tibetan Plateau with Marie So (蘇芷君), a fellow student from Hong Kong, purchasing yak down from the Tibetan people and entered the foreign world of the textile industry. Finally, they settled in Shanghai and set up Shokay, the first company in the world to specialize in selling yak down textile products.

Shokay is Tibetan for yak down and was the first creative lifestyle brand in the world to be based around yak down. Products include adult accessories, home ware and woven goods. All of Shokay's yak down is sourced from the Himalayas in western China. The yak down is purchased directly from the yak herders and a partnership model with the local herders and weaves is used to increase their income. During a trip to Yunnan, Chyau discovered that the yak that Tibetans relied on for their livelihood shed once every year. As yak down is very warm, many Tibetans weave them into cloth for sale. Their income was limited however due to trickery or exploitation. This gave Chyau and So the ideas of commercializing yak down woven goods and giving back to the local community. They drew a business plan, submitted it to the Harvard University's Social Enterprise Business Plan Competition and were lucky enough to win first place. The two used the prize money to set up Shokay in 2006.

Shokay was the first company in the world to use yak down as the raw material for textile products on a large scale. Prior to Shokay, yak down was not considered to have any economic value. The use of yak down allows Shokay to provide new jobs and income for mountain herders, creating value that can be shared by the business and herders. The company is headquartered in Shanghai, China, and its sales locations in Taiwan include chain department stores in Taipei City. Shokay products are now sold at 100 stores around the world and they have opened a flagship store in Shanghai. In 2010, revenue growth exceeded 150%. It not only increased the income of 260 Tibetan households by 20~30% but also allocates some of its profits to promote education in Qinghai, train hand-twisted yarn weavers and support community development.

Her experience as an exchange student in Central/South Latin America was the reason why Carol Chyau(喬琬珊) wanted to start her own business. In a society where a huge divide existed between the rich and poor, Chyau realized that some people lived in poverty because they had no other choice. "We only live in a life of ease because of sheer luck; helping other people and giving back to society is therefore a responsibility and something that we should do." So while other youths started their own businesses to fulfill their dreams and make money, Chyau threw herself headlong into developing a business plan for social enterprises.

OKOGREEN was the first Fairtrade International (FLO)-certified fair trader in Taiwan and the Chinese-speaking world. OKOGREEN Coffee was also the first fair trade coffee brand in the Chinese-speaking world as well. Founder Xu Wenyan (徐文彥) and his partner Yu Wanru hoped to link Taiwan and international organizations through OKOGREEN so they could collaborate on global issues such as poverty and global warming.

OKOGREEN is a portmanteau of "OKO" in German and "Green" in English. "OKO" is the German equivalent of "Eco" and represents how the OKOGREEN holds a fair trade certification from FLO in Bonn. The two dots on top of O represent sprouting seeds, red represents social justice and green represents environmental protection. OKOGREEN therefore hopes to plant the seeds of social justice and environmental protection in Taiwan, and that these seeds will take root and grow.

OKOGREEN's revenues come from its eco-coffee shop as well as coffee bean wholesaling. The coffee peripheral merchandise in the shop can also be ordered online. OKOGREEN is even targeting businesses to promote the "Fair Trade Kitchenette" and providing "health inspections" for coffee machines. This includes helping companies fine-tune their coffee machines and teaching them how to use the coffee machines correctly so office workers can enjoy good coffee as well. The service is then used as a channel to promote the ordering of fair trade coffee beans from OKOGREEN.
